01 — Challenge

CK Construction Group needed a site that could double as a recruitment tool — bold enough to compete with national brands for Columbus talent, and fast enough to never get in the way. Templated WordPress themes came with dozens of stylesheets, page-builder runtimes, and performance penalties they didn’t need. They wanted the visual ambition without the bloat.

02 — Solution

DevQ hand-built a custom WordPress theme from scratch — no page builder, no starter framework. The design language is image-forward and typography-first: an animated hero carousel, a nine-category portfolio grid, a values framework, and a recruitment-focused CTA that routes to their Workday jobs portal. Every piece of CSS on the site ships in a single stylesheet; every piece of JavaScript is purpose-written for the page it runs on.

03 — Results

The homepage loads in under 200ms on a standard connection. The site ships one CSS file instead of the typical 20+, making every page feel instant. Content editors can update projects, values, and recruitment messaging directly in the WordPress admin, and the marketing team has a site that feels as considered as the buildings it showcases.
